Dhuruvangal Pathinaru:
Directed by a kid from Coimbatore - Karthik Naren. Starring yesteryear actor Rahman.
Now those are two things which might not usually get one's pulse rate racing. However (yes, I think you saw that coming) the tone of the movie will keep your heart pounding rapidly through the entire 106 minutes. It is essentially a crime thriller with a simple base plot and multiple small layers added to it which make it up into this complex maze - one that keeps your brain functioning at a frantic pace trying to connect all the dots while still assimilating each and every line of dialogue being uttered. If the way the story has been created is awesome, the way it has been captured i.e. the screenplay is truely worldclass. Each scene has been visalized so well with sequences moulding into each other with no abrupt transitions or unrelated comical interventions. This movie does away with the traditional requirements of songs and comedy and even romance. And most importantly there isnt one fight sequence or anything obscene. Without all this the director has delivered a mouth watering experience where you dive head-on into the essence of the movie. It is true that a lot of good movies have been coming up of late due to more oppurtunities but not many of them get recognized before they are taken off the screens. This is probably because of the sheer number of movies being released and the lack of marketing in many good movies. Thats where audiences like us come in. With so many formula movies centered on violence, alcohol and making women into glamour dolls to the extent that sometimes we wonder whether our kids should see movies at all - this is a welcome break. I am glad that this kid stuck to what he wanted to be said and how it should be said with absolutely no compromise. Only time will whether this was a one time event for the prodige but I am hoping that he shall continue to enthrall us moviegoers with such great flicks. Please watch this movie in a cinema near you because once you watch it, you will be typing a review like this before you even go to sleep.
