romeo - i10 kappa 2
model: Asta
Date of commission: 15 Oct 2010
FIRST REPORT:
Date: 26 Dec 2010
Love:
- looks:
~cute but aggressive (something that was missing in the old one)
~the front grille gives it the air of respect
~ the rear has been tweaked a bit to give it a better look (amazing how a tail lamp adjustment makes such a big change in appearance)
~ side profile the same
ALL SAID AND DONE: it wil never match the Polo or punto or i20 or the jazz
but it does look better than Ritz, wagon r, a-star and beat
- interiors: rich and neat - that is all there is. the panelling and the finishing although not as good as that of honda or vw, is way better than the paltry maruti cars.
~the dash with the chocolate colour: hyundai have done away with the beige dashboard because of the reflection - and thats a reflection on the company - they are willing to listen.
~roomy front - decent rear - much better than beat or the swift which feel like caves at the rear
~decent boot space with lamp
- instrument panel:
~ blue: the old green (which looked pretty ordinary) has given away to a blue cluster. although it does look sporty it doesn't match up to the faint orange of cars like figo or jazz
~useful gear shift indicator
~ no distance to empty indicator
~ nice set of useful buttons for the audio system (in house)
- audio:
~when you go in for a budget car (4-6 L) its safer not to have high expectations on the audio system
~ the old i10 was one such car.. but behold.. the speakers have changed. the audio output wil be second only to honda jazz
to be contd..

Pretty good review sir. Nice buy and a good colour, thats easy on maintenance. It does look a bit muscular ans sporty. old one looked PLAIN!
Post some interior pics too,,,,,
What is the gear shift indicator? Does it indicate at a fixed rpm in each gear or does it vary according to our driving style?
What is the top speed that you have done sir?
Do post the acceleration figures 0-60 and 0-100. I heard its much better than the older engine without variable valve timing. Amd better than swift by a sec ;)
And the mileage you posted is not good, do check with the service people regarding it. Hyundai claims much more than that. In real world ARAI figures can drop by 3 or 4 kmpl, not more. Old i10 had issues with the mileage too.
Any idea about the auto box in the i10 sir?
And i10 is any day better than polo(as a whole). May be Polo has better looks(and a bit of the German Brand Image), but nothing more. They are cheap people. Sharing pathetic engines and old platforms for the cars here.
Fabia and Polo have almost everything in common except the looks. Both the petrol and diesel engines suck big time (3 pot is for the 1960's).
And the Polo that won the Car of the year had a 1.2 TSI engine(120 bhp, sweet!), Climate control, 7 speed DSG gearbox, 16 inch alloys...... VW advertises it as CAR OF THE YEAR and cheats us here. New octavia (due 2nd Quarter 2011) is based on the same platform as the vento. And it is going to have the 1.6 litre(PERFORMANCE ENGINE as they call it), that was phased out in all countries in 1990 s, still being used here in Polo 1.6, fabia 1.6, Passat petrol and now octavia.
And i10 has similar performance as the polo and fabia 1.6. So smoke them and make them lick mud sir.......
Use the car for around 20k km and then change the tires and the rims. i10 definitely needs an upsizing of the tire, atleast to 185/60 R14. The stock ones are too narrow, you might easilt run out of grip.....
Consider Michelin Primacy LC tires..... One of the best in the market,,,, and Alloys HR is value for money and pretty decent too....
