                                                                          2012..

just another year to sail into
without a tear for anyone but u

work, work and work all year long
waiting for change like a sweet summer song

a rare moment or two a light shines bright
tearing u up on what is right

do u ever bother about anyone but u
would u stop to help a creature or two

u shake ur head and gulp it down
and shake a leg to lift that frown.

just another year that passes by
u are too old, time to say good bye.

                                                               The  upper middle  class

Went shopping today. On the way, there were a line of cars parked on the side of the road next  to which ran a open drainage. On the other side of the same drainage were rows and rows of what one hesitate to call houses. It was not exactly a slum. Maybe just the next level - probably the lower middle class.
The middle class was once a single entity - the working class. Now, multiple divisions have arisen within this section of people. When we are so vocal about caste and communities dividing the people, why don't we address the deepening rift we see in society based on one single factor. There is something very wrong at the core of our society in this economy. As many have come to say - the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. And as the rift between the people who parked their cars on one side of the drainage and the people living on the other side gets larger, we may come to a point when things may get ugly. Because Everyone wants to eat well, dress well and live well.. An odd behaviour seen only in us humans. Animals are just content with survival. Maybe that is why we are doomed.

alternate reality

what if i had joined the air force right after school... what if i had had the guts to go up that girl i met in tution and told her how i felt... what if i had eaten chinese food on aug 11 2011 instead of thai food.

hmm.. which car should i choose.. can i picture myself driving the polo? nah, i10 it is.

two different time scenarios - past and future - both pondering a possibility of an alternative knowing well enough that none exists. then why do we try and imagine them?  to answer this, we must ask ourselves a very basic question:  What is reality?
  the possible responses would be
 1. the world that we see, hear and perceive  (98%)
 2. reality is almost like 'being practical' - like the phrase - get back to reality dude (1.99%)
 3. a world that sucks, and yet one that we have to endure during the daylight so that we might return to our utopia of dreams, come nightfall. (0.01%)

so is reality just a video our sensory systems coordinate and deliver?  then what about all those signals they can't perceive, like UV or IR or cosmic rays. there are too many variables that neither provide any plausible explanation nor can absolutely deny the possible existence of a world where you could have woke up on the other side of the bed. What if.. :)

mid point

i guess turning 30 kinda signals that having reached a summit, we are abt to start our journey down the hill. atleast physically. that is somehow the way our mind tends to project our life. they did say "body and soul" and not "soul and body", whoever 'they' were.
anyway, as we know, our mind unlike our body doesnt reach puberty until now. thats what 'some' would call 'maturity'. so as we mature, we are considered to ease into the oasis of adulthood.
At this point, unlike our childhood, our mind doesn't seem to reflect its deepest thoughts.. for reflections occur in still water, whereas our minds are cluttered with incessant stimuli and responses. We race about in a dazed state with only our child's growth rate as any indicator to how fast time is slipping by.
its always good to take time off and be alone. In a field, under a tree, resting our back on the tree trunk, on a windy and pleasant afternoon with not a soul around. almost like a dream. because in reality, where do we ever have time to plan and execute such an event?

so thus we begin the faster downhill path towards the inevitable, in blissful ignorance of the handbrake we possess to pace the second leg of our journey so that when we hit the bottom, we would know that we have seen and experienced everything that this world has offered us in our brief stay here..

Started watching some classics after shifting to Coimbatore. I just grew a bit tired of some of the recent hollywood flicks. There seems to be a heavy deficit in intellect as far as movie making goes in these last few years. Anyway, the first movie was 'Citizen Kane' which although was great, somehow was below expectations (the movie is considered to be the greatest ever). Then, there was 'Anatomy of a murder', a courtroom suspense thriller. It was a much better one, but the plot unfortunately, was too simple.
Now, coming to 'the third man'. Joseph Cotten is an amazing actor and he plays this young american who is literally broke. He comes to post-war Vienna to meet an old friend who had promised him a job. The movie opens with him arriving at Vienna only to find that his friend has died through what appears to be an accident. As he tries to figure out the details, things start to unravel. The post-war picture of a great city has been carefully depicted with a subtle mixture of beautiful buildings, rubble from bombing raids and impoverished people governed by the four conquering nations (allies).
These movies show how much of ourselves that we have lost these past few decades. Beauty can be crafted out of  the smallest and most simple aspects of life, if we apply our minds to it.
